Guidelines & Moderation Policy
Our Community Values
The Jupiter community is built on mutual respect, collaboration, and a shared passion for Jupiter. These guidelines are designed to ensure everyone has a positive experience in our community spaces.
By participating in our Discord server and other community platforms, you agree to follow these guidelines and understand our moderation processes.
Community Rules
1. Respect Everyone
Treat all community members with respect. Harassment, hate speech, discrimination, or attacking others based on identity is strictly prohibited. This includes:
- Slurs or derogatory language
- Targeted harassment or personal attacks
- Discrimination based on identity
- Sustained disruption of discussions
2. No Spam or Self-Promotion
Don't spam channels with repetitive content, excessive messages, or unrelated material. Self-promotion is only allowed in designated channels.
- No unsolicited DMs for marketing or sales
- No excessive emojis, images, or text walls
- No unauthorized bot usage
3. Participate in Good Faith
We encourage open discussion and welcome constructive feedback, including critical perspectives. However, all community members must engage in good faith and with respect.
Not Acceptable:
- Direct insults or abusive language toward the team, community, project or brand.
- Making heavy, unsubstantiated claims (e.g., "...is a scam") without supporting evidence
- Persistent repetition of points without engaging with replies in good faith i.e. more interested in FUD than actually having a discussion
How to share concerns: If you have questions or concerns about the project, please present them clearly, be open to discussion, and remain respectful. Healthy discourse and thoughtful criticism are valued, but engagement must be genuine and respectful.
4. No Scams or Misleading Content
Sharing scams, phishing links, or misleading information is strictly prohibited. This includes:
- Fake giveaways or airdrops
- Phishing attempts or malicious links
- Impersonation of team members or other users
- Deliberately spreading misinformation about Jupiter or projects
5. Keep Discussions Appropriate
Keep discussions appropriate for all audiences. We prohibit:
- NSFW content or explicit material
- Glorification of illegal activities
- Discussions that violate laws or platform Terms of Service
6. Use Channels Appropriately
Post content in the appropriate channels. Off-topic discussions may be moved or removed to maintain channel organization.
Moderation Actions
Violations of our community guidelines may result in the following actions, depending on the severity and frequency of the violation:
Warning
For minor violations, moderators may issue a verbal or written warning explaining the violation and requesting compliance with the guidelines.
Message Removal
Content that violates our guidelines will be removed. The user may be notified about why their content was removed.
Timeout
For more serious violations or continued problematic behavior, we typically start with a temporary timeout, during which you cannot participate in the community. Timeouts typically range from 1 hour to 7 days.
Note: If a user repeatedly violates guidelines, we may proceed directly with a ban without warning.
Ban
Severe violations or a pattern of repeated violations after timeouts may result in a permanent ban from our community platforms. Ban appeals may be considered after a cooling-off period.
Note: While we prefer to use progressive moderation, clear patterns of bad-faith engagement or deliberate community disruption may result in immediate action.
Moderator Principles
Our moderation team follows these principles when enforcing our guidelines:
- Fairness: We apply rules consistently regardless of a user's status or role in the community
- Context: We consider the context of interactions and the intent behind them
- Education: Our goal is to educate users about our guidelines rather than simply punish violations
- Transparency: We maintain moderation logs and are open about our decision-making process
- Balance: We strive to maintain a balance between allowing open discourse and preventing disruptive behavior
Reporting Violations
If you witness a violation of our community guidelines, please report it to our moderation team:
- Submit a report through our /meows page
Appeals Process
If you believe a moderation action was taken in error, you may appeal the decision by:
- Submitting an appeal through our /meows page
- Providing context and explanation for why you believe the moderation action should be reconsidered
Appeals are reviewed by moderators who were not involved in the original decision to ensure fairness.
Changes to Guidelines
These guidelines may be updated periodically to address new challenges or improve our community environment. Major changes will be announced in our Discord server and on our website.
